Stock Pick of the Week: JPM (5/18/20)

Stock Pick of the Week: JPM “From an investment perspective, JPMorgan Chase boasts a valuation that's considerably cheaper than the market average, along with a dividend yield of 2.6%.  Both earnings growth and dividend growth have been significant in recent years.  JPMorgan Chase might not generate quite the same level of name recognition for beginning investors that Disney or PepsiCo do, but the bank will be able to profit from a strong U.S. economy in much the same way as those consumer giants.” -The Motley Fool

How to Introduce Financial Literacy to Your Children

I think its very important to teach children from a young age, how to make and save money. Many families have adopted an allowance program. Growing up, I received an allowance twice a month and  the amount I received was the age I was at the time. I could choose to spend it or save it in anyway I wanted.  As I got older and started working as a counselor and babysitting more often, I would start making savings goals for things I wanted to do like go on a trip or get a cell phone. An allowance program can be customized in any way you see fit. Children can earn money for doing chores, or volunteering etc. Another idea is to let your kids keep your spare change. It adds up very quickly. They can practice counting the coins and see what they can buy for that amount. All that really matters is that your child can learn that money does not grow on trees, (or in mom’s wallet). You can teach them that they are in charge of what they want to spend their money on.

Stock Pick of the Week: MFA (5/11/20)

Stock Pick of the Week: MFA Here’s a wild card pick, MFA Financial. I haven’t invested in penny stocks in years but I came across this particular one because it has an extremely high dividend (the amount a company pays its shareholders) yield and a very low price.  If you bought 50 shares of this stock which is currently trading at $1.64, you could have $40 dollars of passive income a year.  A good thing about the Coronavirus pandemic is that all the stocks are on sale! MFA was trading at around $8 about two months ago, so you have the opportunity to make a real profit.

Stock Pick of the Week: TGT (5/4/20)

Stock Pick of the Week: TGT Target has been increasing their dividends every year for the past 52 years, so this is a stock you can hold forever and keep a passive income.  “One way to build an income stream is to invest in dividend stocks, which distribute part of the company’s earnings to investors on a regular basis, such as quarterly. The best ones increase their payout over time, helping grow future income.  Dividend stocks typically are less volatile than growth stocks and help diversify your portfolio. Investors can also choose to reinvest dividends” - motley fool

Stock Pick of the Week: SPY (4/27/20)

Stock pick of the week: SPY As the market starts to rebound, some of my favorite stocks to buy are ETFs (Exchange traded fund), they are low risk and follow the trend of the market.  In particular, I would suggest a new investor to buy a share of SPY, the ETF of the S&P 500 Index.  With this stock you are able to put your money in a lot of different industries, without having to buy individual stocks.  I recommend this stock and have already made 8.83% return on it!
